ENCEPUR ADULT is indicated for active (prophylactic) immunisation against tick-borne encephalitis in adults and children aged 12 or over. 
ENCEPUR PAEDIATRIC is indicated for active (prophylactic) immunisation against tick-borne encephalitis in children 1-11 years.

Vaccination Schedules

For children aged >1 year (ENCEPUR PAEDIATRIC, 0.25 mL) and for Adults and children aged > 12 years (ENCEPUR ADULT, 0.5 mL)

Encepur can be administered according to the following vaccination schedule:

Encepur must be used according to local recommendations. Four doses are recommended in the primary vaccination schedule for > 50 years.

In Sörmland the TBE vaccine is free for children. In Uppsala and Östergötland regions the TBE vaccine will be free for children starting from 2022.

Booster

ENCEPUR booster offers protection for those at continued risk of TBE.

Boosters are recommended:

  • Every 5 years for those aged 1-49 years of age
  • Every 3 years in those >49 years of age

 

ENCEPUR: 4 doses provide protection for 5 years

 

Administration

ENCEPUR is administered intramuscularly (preferably into the deltoid muscle).

  • Adults and children aged 12 years and older: ENCEPUR ADULT 0.5mL as per schedule above
  • Children aged 1-11 years: ENCEPUR PAEDIATRIC  0.25mL as per schedule above
The vaccine may be administered subcutaneously in patients with haemorrhagic diathesis.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) recommends immunisation for people who live in TBE risk areas or who frequently visit forests and grasslands in TBE risk areas

To achieve optimal protection, vaccination with any TBE vaccine needs to be administered in two subsequent tick seasons.
